Via Appia (20131121)

I took a trip out one day to walk on the Via Appia, the ancient Roman road. There are substantial sections with the original paving intact. It amased me how rough it was, but apparently there was cement filler to help smooth the surface. It also amased me how narrow, level and straight the road was.
